Update on the GTC’s progress
Throughout the past two months, the Greenwich Triathlon Club has taken on a completely new life. Thanks in great part to our incredible board, advisory committee and local vendor support our club has gone from a few people meeting a for Saturday morning ride to a top-tiered multisport club that will have all of Fairfield County talking. Beginning late March GTC will officially be open for business!

New for 2010

Membership for GTC will now require a yearly $85 fee. Membership will include:
• GTC Running Shirt
• GTC Water bottle
• GTC Swim Cap
• Participation in GTC weekly workouts
• Free admittance to most GTC sponsored seminars and clinics
• Discounts on exclusive coached programs
• GTC’s Swim Clinic, Tri-Boot Camp, Beginner’s Brick, etc
• Social Activities

Another very exciting aspect to our forward progress is that we are going to register as an official club with USA Triathlon. This will allow you to race under USAT’s Champion Point System. As an individual, you will accumulate points for your age group. Regardless of race finish, you receive points. Points are accumulated throughout the season and depending on your total accumulation, you could be ask to participate in USAT Championship race.

From a club perspective, when you race you will also register as a member of GTC. This will allow GTC to gain points for every race you do. The more points, the closer we get to also competing at the USAT Club Championships!

GTC Member News

Please keep GTC Graphic Design Keith Conover in your thoughts. He shattered 3 fingertips 2 weeks ago during snowstorm when working with a snow blower. Fortunately, he did not have to have tips removed and is expected to recover. Keith was at the Saturday run/walk workout last weekend, walking the course with Jan and cheering on the others.

Marisol ran her first 8 miler.... congratulations!

Christina, Marisol and Michele are doing More Half Marathon on April 25th. Any other members doing it???

Alex Melzer and Ross Armstrong are continuing to train through the cold weather as they prepare for their first Ironman, Ironman Utah. Keep it up guys! We look forward to tracking you.

Race Schedule
Please check out the attachment for a list of local races and their registration dates. As a club we have decided to make the Stamford KIC IT Triathlon and the Greenwich Triathlon our signature club races. Not only can we practice on the courses the entire season but our coaches will be putting together some free training plans that will guide you to a successful completion regardless if this is first triathlon or if you’re a seasoned veteran. See the attached Race List for a list of races put together by Joanne. Make a note of the all the sign up dates. Some are coming up soon.

For those who may be interested, some races will have the option of forming a relay team. Email Joanne for more info on putting a team together for a race coachd123@gmail.com

Coaches Wanted
GTC Member Bill Bogardus is the President of The Greenwich Track Club. It is a phenomenal program that I am proud to have worked with in the past. With weekly and weekend workouts Bill’s program has kids of all ages learning the proper mechanics of running while having a great time.

Due to enormous popularity of the program Bill is looking for a few new coaches for this upcoming season. The first session will be starting next week! So if you are interested or know someone who is, please contact Bill directly to find out more. Bill’s email: billybo168@aol.com. Greenwich Kids Track Club website: http://www.greenwichtrackclub.com

Swim Clinic
Due to the success of the swim program we will be launching a second series. Dates TBA but program will most likely take place Monday evenings and Wednesday mornings. Please email me if you are interested on learning more.
Check out GTC on Youtube for more info on the clinic: https://www.youtube.com/GreenwichTriClub

GTC Support

Signature Cycles
Early Spring is the ideal time to make sure that bike fit is perfect. Take some time and stop by Signature Cycles for a bike fitting. For those looking to compete this year, a proper bike fit will make or break your race season. Lori and Soren are two of the most qualified bike fit specialist I have ever meet and worked with. Signature Cycles is located at 28 Bruce Park Ave.

The Running Company
Home to what is becoming the legendary Sunday Morning run; the Running Company is a great venue for your triathlon gear. Mike has done a great job bringing a variety of vendors to the store. You will have a ton of options when it comes to apparel and sneakers.

Lululemon
Lindsay and crew and the best. Lululemon is rapidly taking the world by storm with the ultra comfortable/sport specific athletic apparel. Lululemon also offers free Yoga classes throughout the week.
